Introduction:
It lies at the right side of the belly. It's weight is three pounds. It's colour is reddish brown. Normally a person can not feel it because it lies under the rib cage. It has two sections- right/left lobes. The gallbladder lies under the liver along with parts of the pancreas and intestines. The liver and these organs work together to digest, absorb and process the food.
Function of liver:
The liver’s main function is to filter the blood coming from the digestive tract, detoxify chemicals, makes proteins for blood clotting, controlling heat, produces bile and collects in the gallbladder. Food goes in duodenum after an hour of intake. It remains in semisolid form. Pancreatic juice and bile juice comes now to make this semi solid acidic food into alkaline form. Without proper bile secretion acidity, indigestion, gas formation, flatulence, hiccough, nausea, belching, burping, headache may form due to higher acidic texture increases in the digestive system.
If this problem increases day by day then gums and teeth weakens and becomes the root cause of eye disturbances and aspects. It also makes seman and ova thinner which gives ejacuation and discharge of seman in men and leucorrhoea in women. Skin diseases, falling of hair, jaundice, short temperament are also the cause of it. So proper functioning of liver is very essential as it is the store house of fats, minerals and vitamins. It also breaks down old or damaged blood cells. The liver plays a central role in all metabolic processes in the body and gives energy.
So what's good for the liver ?
Coffee, green or black tea, grape fruits, blueberries, pears, beet root, nuts, cruciferous vegetables- brussels, sprouts, broccoli etc. Olive oil decreases the fat in the liver, increases blood flow and improves liver enzymes (glucose-D).
What is bad for the liver?
Sugar, salt, packed food, antibiotic, pain killer, fatty food, oil, ghee, butter etc.
What are the common diseases of liver?
Common liver diseases are enlargement of liver, inflammation, cirrhosis, hardening and jaundice.
What are the symptoms of toxic Liver?
Poor appetite, indigestion, abdominal pain after eating, excessive fatigue, confusion, poor performance, easily tired, pain below the right scapula, physical weakness, Hair falling, bad breath, bad or bitter taste in mouth, bloating, gas Indigestion, acid reflux, white coated tongue, hormonal imbalances, losing glow of skin, dullness, eczema, pimples wrinkles, too much itching,weight gaining day by day, constipation or diarrhoea, brown or white liver spots and patches,Poor sleep etc.
TREATMENT:
Yogasana: It should be practiced daily for fifteen minutes and to follow the principles of eating to prevent itself from diseases.
Acupressure: Press your palm (mainly right) twice a day for two minutes daily.
Homeopathy:
Chelidonium tincture: 15 drops twice a day in lukewarm water before meal.
Natrum sulph 6x: four globules thrice a day.
Nux vomica 30: two drops at bedtime.
Home remedy:
Raisins: soak fifteen to twenty raisins in 400 ml of water. Boil for twenty minutes without lid. Drink warm early morning while chewing the raisins.
Triphala powder: soak one and a half teaspoon of triphala, add half teaspoon turmeric and one fourth teaspoon ginger and a pinch of black pepper in 400 ml of water. Boil it for twenty minutes and drink warmly on an empty stomach.
